Thing's That Go Bump In The Night

If I recall correctly, the godparents promise to raise the child in the faith should the parents not be able to. My son has excellent godparents who I hope would take that responsibility seriously should I die.

I hope I don’t die soon, but we must always be ready. Not one moment is promised to us.

Yes but my brother is a single man who works as a teacher and has an anxiety disorder he’s my only Catholic sibling.

My parents are non practicing and dysfunctional…

My sister is a lapsed Protestant cohabitating with her Jewish, Socialists Atheist baby daddy there kind people but not really a good choice.

My other brother is middle aged single father and Playboy business man.

So… That leaves my Protestant in-laws who we rent with.

I’m not sure how I could legally dictate in a will that my children are receive all their sacraments and holy days of obligations but something needs to be written up.

I’ve only had three dreams about college. The first dream: I’m patrolling the grounds of my rural college with a rifle. Dressed in tactical clothing. Apparently providing security. The second dream: I’m inside the school and it’s deserted. I still have my rifle. I find my botany professor and tell him that we have to go immediately. Just then I look outside and see the entire parking lot full of Chinese military vehicles and troops. I look towards the woods and it ends. The third dream: I’m returning to college with hundreds of other people but we’re walking and nobody has cars. I see my teachers and they look older. I feel like some calamity occurred but it’s over. I stand inline with two military men and they thank me for doing something. (I never heard what they said. It’s like they were censored) I’ve never had a college dream since. Gotta say, they kinda creeped me out

The Exorcist was based on a true story. Then there is the exorcism of Anneliese Michel. It is much more disturbing, I think.

God Bless you for praying for her immediately! I was told from a child on that if you dream of someone, you should pray for them.

On another thread a few months ago, there was a topic about fearing death. I thought there were many good points. Sometimes dreams are a way of hashing out fears. Sometimes, I believe it is possible to get a little forewarning. Sometimes that forewarning is from a bad doctor’s report, or our subconscious picking up clues such as a person we see might suddenly not have ‘good color’ and yet we can’t quite put our finger on it.

And sometimes, maybe God permits us to know.

I also believe I’ve read here that if you are getting a forewarning about your death from the Lord, you won’t have to debate much what it is about. If that is truly what it was, meant for you, you’d have gotten that message loud and clear.

As a Christian, we are to always be prepared for Our Lord to take us home. Frequent confession, keeping the ‘end in mind’, is a good way to live.

Write it up for certain. They don’t have to believe to drop them off at CCD. And no it wouldn’t be ideal, but it would give your children a chance.

(This isn’t a happy topic but a good one for every parent.)

Thank Goodness God doesn’t limit himself to Memes.

After my grandfather died, my grandmother claimed to have seen him several times after the funeral, walking around the house, toying with the small knick knacks he used to collect.

Forgive my ignorance but what clearly speaking is a MeMe?

an element of a culture or system of behavior that may be considered to be passed from one individual to another by nongenetic means, especially imitation.
a humorous image, video, piece of text, etc., that is copied (often with slight variations) and spread rapidly by Internet users.

Thanks I get it now.

I think you are quite possibly correct, that some of these people might be Holy Souls.

My grandmother was a big one for praying for people. I would go to her house after school some days, I she had just been saying her rosary for all of us grandchildren.

I think the Holy Souls might have an idea who would pray for them. So many of them are forgotten.

Has anyone here ever had an astral projection/outer-body experience?

I believe this one is a real story. :+1:

Father Gary Thomas basically says that. He is the exorcist that is spoken of in the book that came out 5 years back or something like that called The Rite which was also made into a movie.

I heard him speak about what people call “ghosts” and he said it’s likely souls from purgatory.

By the way, there is this awesome book on the souls in purgatory. It’s called “Get us Out of Here” and is about this Austrian Woman called Maria Simma who had the spiritual gift of the Holy Souls visiting her daily. It’s private revelation, so take it with a grain of salt. But I really liked this book.

If you are interested in the Holy Souls, you might want to read it.

Here’s a good article which includes Fr. Gary Thomas:
