TLM in Paris

I will be in Paris the beginning of July. Does anyone know of where I can attend the TLM in Paris and the schedule? Thank you.

I would be surprised if there’s a legit TLM in Paris. France is infested with SSPX and the French Bishops conference is the main reason the pope hasn’t yet granted the “Universal Indult”.

I checked and haven’t found tlm but there is one in English at least.

St.Roch 0142441320 Web Map Updated: 3/2/2007
Sun: 9:30 AM [in English] ; **Address: **296 rue Saint Honore Paris FR 75001 France

Here’s a possible start:

Province of Paris
(Departments of Essonne, Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-et-Marne, Seine-Saint Denis, Val de Marne, Val d’Oise, and Yvelines; and the City of Paris)

Metropolitan See: of Paris: Daily Indult Masses
Suffragan Dioceses:éteil: Indult Masses every Sunday Daily Indult Masses Daily Indult Masses Denis Daily Indult Masses

Unfortunately, I’m not sure where to go from there. There is a site I use when I travel - . I did a search for Creteil, France and it does list the church locations (Creteil is SE Paris Metro), but no Mass times or information about whether it is an indult Mass.

Happy hunting.

St. Nicholas of Chardonnet in Paris is Society of Pope Pius X.

Notre Dame Cathedral mass times, but I don’t know if TLM or not.

Sunday mass at 8 am, 8:45 a.m., 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:45 p.m. and 6:30 p.m

There is a Sunday 1100 Latin Mass at
La paroisse Saint-Eugène - Sainte-Cécile

not sure how you get there, but that’s a start

4 Rue du Conservatoire 75010

Success, I hope…it comes up as 75009 on Mapquest, but since it is the intersection of Rue du Conservatoire and Rue Sainte Cecile, I think it is a safe bet…

Oh…and here is the church’s website:

Best Western Aida Opera Hotel is at 11 Rue du Conservatoire, so they could probably give you directions

Good Luck

BTW, this was an indult mass in 1984, so I assume it still is. It may be the only one in France!!

It looks like they have had the indult since 1989.

1989 : En application du motu proprio Ecclesia Dei, S.E. le cardinal Lustiger autorise la liturgie selon le missel de 1962.

According to the hotel’s site, it is 1km from Notre Dame and the Louvre, so the location of Saint Eugene sounds pretty central.

Now, I have the sin of envy to contend with. :o

While I don’t believe they have a TLM - the Admiral de Grasse is interred in this Church. There is a plaque to that effect erected by the DAR. He is in the Lady Chapel, if memory serves. He was the French admiral who blocked the British from rescuing Cornwallis - and giving the victory at Yorktown to Washington. For any American history buff, this is worth the visit.

So if there is strong representation from the SSPX and if there are several Indult masses in the area does this mean that the average French Church goer is rather conservative. I could just be making an bad assumption but it sounds like the French like the TLM. Anyone know if this is correct?

I’m curious because I like to try and keep tabs on the trends within the Church in other countries.

From the web site you provided:

• Dimanche

o St Pie V (latin) : Lundi, Mardi, Mercredi, Jeudi, & Vendredi : 19h00

TLM at 11AM on Sunday and daily TLM - at 7PM M,T,W,Th and F

You really should check out the web site. the Church is very nice. Don’t be put off by the site being in French.

Part of our sermon yesterday was on the situation in France and Germany. It appears that the situation is so grim in France that the Muslims are ready to buy out many of the Churches there. The TLM, on the other hand, appears to draw many and will probably be the future of the Church there.

Why the French bishops are opposed to the TLM then is mind-baffling.

If you search the google map for Paris France Conservatoire - Rue du Conservatoire will come up. There appears to be no very close Metro stop though Cadet and Grands Boulevards are reasonably close. The street is no too long. I don’t see that finding it should be any problem with a map and a reasonable sense of direction.

OK, that was the impression that I was getting. I agree with you too that it seems like it would be a good idea to open the TLM up over there since they seem to be embracing it.

That doesn’t seem like an awful lot of Masses for a big and (presumably) popular place like Notre Dame.
