To use legends and myths as fiction

i was thinking about if its morally acceptable for a Catholic to treat legends and such, like ghost from ghost stories characters/cryptids etc. as if they were plain fiction, my doubt comes from that they might be just imagination of the people, but at the same time they could have been some kind of demonical apparition, making them more real and having to have certain caution about those.

so far i think that is kinda exagerating, since then we should not use any legend for anything, like nicknames, characters etc. but i would like to know your opinions on this.

I think it depends on the story, just be careful.

Legends and myths are used in stories all the time. Just make sure evil is clearly evil and why.
