Makes one wish they had enough resources to do the same.

The work / family balance is a myth.

Work is supposed to be simply a support for the family.
A ‘balance’ is effectively the tail wagging the dog.

One should work to live, not live to work.

This obsession with industry in the US really grows out of the Protestant Work Ethic.

This is one of my favorite things about CAF. There’s no post or subject that doesn’t warrant an anti-protestant response.

This man seems to be equally American, Egyptian and British. There’s no mention of his religious beliefs at all. He’s cut back his work schedule to spend more time with his family after realizing he’s lost his relationship with his daughter, which I think is admirable. Evil protestants!

The Protestant Work Ethic has become part and parcel of the American mindset relative to work. THis includes American Catholics- you see this worship of industry and productivity especially on CAF and among right-wing economic leanings.

Yeah, this comes across as a slam. FWIW, perhaps the whole thing is just the dynamic of modern capitalism: more technology, more money, more power. Feels good, don’t it?
