Transmissible disease and drinking from the Holy Chalice

I don’t think it is a doctrine. But it is an observed practice of the Church to trust our Lord more than our physical knowledge. Mother Therese kissed people sick of leper for many years thus exposing herself to the microbe that creates the disease. She never caught it.
If it worries you then don’t drink from the cup. But I can testify that even though my faith is weak and below average I have kissed crosses in church tasting the saliva of other elder women right before me, who looked very ill, and got nothing.
So don’t stress yourself if you don’t feel like it but also don’t put our earthly science before the mystery of the Eucharist. Which a Sacrament.
God help!
