Sorry I’m being dense but, how so? Even though the winner is usually known on election night, it’s not official until several days later anyway. Florida in 2000 was chaos due to the ballots they used and their hanging chads…not due to mail in ballots, slow mail or missing ones.
Question, is their a requirement that the tally be done by X number of days after polling is closed? I just assumed that even though we citizens might like to know immediately, it just needs to be done by the swearing in date? Or Dec31st? Or? Surely in the 1800’s it took weeks to count the votes?
