If it has been awhile since you have been to confession …when you call the office or talk to a priest … tell them you need to make a “general” confession … this lets them know that they need to allot more time for your needs. It occurs to me that they may have thought you were inquiring about “usual confession times” and not realizing you may have a burdened heart that needs more time than usual. GO … Jesus hears your heart.
I’m leaving you with a version of the ACT OF CONTRITION I recently obtained from a priest and I like it very much:
Forgive me my sins, O Lord, forgive me my sins; the sins of my youth, the sins of my age, the sins of my soul, the sins of my body, my idle sins, my serious voluntary sins, the sins I know, the sins I don’t know; the sins I have concealed so long, which are now hidden from my memory.
I am truly sorry for every sin, mortal, and venial, for all the sins of my childhood up to the present hour.
I know my sins have wounded Thy Tender Heart, O my Savior, let me be freed from the bonds of evil through the most bitter passion of my Redeemer.
O my Jesus, forget and forgive what I have been. Amen.
