Trooper Severely Injured, Gunman Dead in Shooting at Greyhound Station in Richmond, Virginia
A state trooper had “life-threatening” injuries and a gunman is dead after an “active shooter” situation at a Greyhound bus in Richmond, Virginia, Thursday afternoon, state police said. Two civilians were also injured during the shooting, which took place around 2:45 pm Thursday afternoon at the Greyhound bus station, Virginia State Police Spokeswoman Corinne Geller said.
Earlier, officials had said that a trooper had been killed.
Officials said the shooting happened near the end of a counter-drug training mission for state police. Part of the training involves approaching civilians and talking to them.
When a state trooper in uniform walked up to one man at the entrance to the bus station, the man pulled a gun and shot the officer at close range, Geller said.
Two officers standing nearby returned fire and fatally struck the gunman, who died after being taken to a hospital, she said.
Praying that the trooper fully recovers.
