TrueKnights.org - Status?

#1

I am trying to seek and find anybody that knows what happened to the trueknights.org site that Kenneth Henderson had running for about 3 years. I know that this apostolate struggled financially and the financial problems may have caused the apostolate to shut down.

For those of you who do not know what TrueKnights was it was essentially a apostolate that helped men who Struggle with Pornography Addiction. It was also about defending the family and the faith.

It was a great Catholic forum for men and even women as an online support group. Does anybody have any incite to this?

I put this under spirituality, because this apostolate was great to help men better their spiritual lives.

This must be weird coincidence, I am listening to yesterday’s Catholic Answers Live with Jason Evert over podcast, and the topic is “Freedom from Pornography”!

He did recommend another site though:
pornnomore.com/

Hope this helps,
Derek

I don’t have info on what happened to TrueKnights, but if you or someone you know is looking for an alternative, you might try the Catholic Support Group for Sexual Addictions Recovery.

Here is another site that may be of help:

Who Does it Hurt?

When I was listening to the “The Lords Gym” (Tuesdays at 2pm Eastern on EWTN Radio) with Jesse Romero and Terry Barber, the site admin/owner called in to let people know about the site.

A kind-of update to this: The Serenellians’ website is up and visible, but hasn’t been updated since October of 2008; Also, an e-mail I tried to send to their founder (via the contact-link on their website) bounced back; I hope these aren’t signs of another great Apostolate going under for financial reasons…

Pray for these kinds of Apostolates and ministries, everyone!

I received a broadcast email from Ken Henderson of TrueKnights.org
some 2 or 3+ years ago as a plea for money to keep his website/ministry open.
The letter was very revealing.

In the letter many things were patently obvious and clear with the assistance of some reading between the lines.
He was all thumbs when it came to computers. He couldnt manage or program his own website and was almost totally
dependent upon others to do the even the most mundane things regarding his website.
Despite the fact that he had a stream of tech guys donating time and help,
it would appear that these guys would fade away, only to be replaced by another volunteer some time later.
The end result of a string of volunteers was that Ken Henderson didnt learn even the basics of keeping his website up
and running and maintained, despite the luxury of a stream of volunteers and time.Things would crash and he’d lose content because he didnt have a backup anywhere. Or a virus woud strike(he wasnt running antivirus software) and he’d lose programming. The email further detailed even larger
computer bugaboos and personal failings in this area than just not maintaining a backup, etc. that I found rather shocking
from a technical perspective.(I’m writing this from memory and impression)

It seemed that he intended the ministry and its income to be his primary or major source of monetary support.
Yet when you have a man who cant manage to even learn the most basic rudimentary skills involved with maintaining a website,
you’ve got a built in recipe for disaster.

Unfortunately, I gave a considerable amt. of money via Paypal to his email appeal figuring that he’d turn things around.
I figured he would learn from his mistakes and get rolling again-- Bad assumption!
His website never recovered(still inactive but present) and of all things I never received a personal reply email thanking me
for my donation, …and for me it was a considerable donation (in the hundreds).
However, 2+ months later, I did receive a broadcast email message for everyone on his mail list
that was intended as a thankyou, This guy and his website are a complete disaster.

Is this the same Ken Henderson? (it is) keneticimages.com/

I too was a member of True Knights for several years (i used a different name on TK). I don't agree with your comments at all. He had health and family problems too as well as work issues. I don't think its fair to bash him when he can't respond to your unfair comments. He did good work, I found his site very helpful.

Hmmm, II'm open to correction?
First off your link has gone dead.
My understanding is that he is a graphics or artist guy and I'm guessing he is probably not the best or even adequate at the rest of IT.
His website deteriorated over time with significant content going missing and never restored. The site was hobbling along with significant original content lost.
There could be several reasons for this.
One was not health.
You can blame it on inadequate backups, hack attacks, viruses,$$, et al.

From Ken Hendersons broadcast email 12/2007

Let me start at the beginning...

In September my computer hard drive had a major crash and I spent 2 ½ weeks putting it back together. I had a speaking engagement in October in Chicago that went very well. But, upon my return I discovered that my computer also had a major virus and again I had to spend major amounts of time and effort routing out the virus and repairing the damage it had done.
..............................
clipped health issues etc.

Still doesnt explain alot of things!
I admired his site and his extensive content. I dont know him, but I sent him money and I think I have something to say. Unfortunately, I didnt find this broadcast email until after my original post.

Ken Henderson has an acct on Catholic Answers that he used to promote his site.

Still TrueKnights.org is not resurrected and is in many ways the tale of ‘Apostolates’ founded by the recently ‘newly converted’ to the Catholic faith.

Lets hope the Abby Johnson Ministry to reach abortion workers doesnt suffer the same fate. Which I doubt that it will.

If a Catholic apostolate goes under for financial reasons, criticisms should not be fired left and right. I think he’s become a full-time dad. He made it clear in his interview with Marcus Grodi that his wife was the bread-winner in the family. It was made clear here in this forum that his training was in art, and there are many starving artists out there. Maybe he simply bit off more than he could chew. Instead of a harder to manage website, maybe he should have limited his online reach through Facebook page & group and WordPress.

There are other Catholic anti-porn and porn-recovery groups out there, so Ken also had good competition for his ministry. Instead of throwing grenades, throw prayers his way.

Even Mr. Keating has many times portrayed gloom in asking for money. I’ve heard from many complaining of this, saying that he needs to manage money better. We need to stop complaining and start supporting, if not money, then with prayer and helpful suggestions.
