TV is getting toxic

sigh…

;(

We’re doomed

Society is toxic

true that, my tv shows dvds and EWTN, sometimes the simpsons. but by and large, yeah, its a mess.

Thanks. Every now and then, I need a reminder why I don’t watch TV anymore.

yeah, I’m going to seminary in the fall, not even bringing my tv. If I were not going and had any idea how to start something like this…we almost need a lobying group…say the archbishop Fulton Sheen group for the redemption of Television.

TV is just awful. I’m glad my antennae fell over and we haven’t replaced it. DVDs, YouTube…that’s about it.

Oh, and plenty of books.

Getting?

Dexter - That lovable serial killer next door. His girlfriend’s kids like him.

Californication - Nuff said.

Brothers and Sisters - Dysfunctional family living.

Desperate Housewives - More dysfunctional family living.

Grey’s Anatomy - Fornication hospital with adultery.

Yep, up next - that lovable prostitute next door, followed by that lovable “porn star” next door…

God bless,
Ed

What really worries me is that it is so bad that a young person could obliviously surf through channels and get a real eyeful. Our oldest two are at the age at which they can start to babysit - I have so far told them to keep the TV off under all circumstances and take a book for after the kids go to bed. I hope they listen.

yeah, I posted this after I found out about it watching the morning news, had no idea things had gotten so bad. When I last watched tv the worst on was freinds and seinfeld, nothing like this garbage.

There’s so much good stuff on TV. I don’t see why people just give up on it altogether. Granted, maybe some people just don’t enjoy watching TV but I there’s plenty to watch that’s very good and non-objectionable.

What stands out about this Swingtown show is that it is supposed to show how life and families were like back in the Disco-and-Polyester Leisure Suit 1970’s. Everyone was swinging and doing coke with little spoons around their neck chains while disco dancing at Studio 54, right?

No?

Wow. My family didn’t do any of that, either. In fact, none of my friends’ or relatives’ families did that. We really missed out on the 70’s, or something. Or maybe, just maybe, the debauchery shown in this new show wasn’t the norm!

Hey, my family was normal after all!

Great point as I think that is also true of the 60’s generation.

I rarely watch TV. There is a group called “Parents Television Council” that was founded in 1995 although I thought I’d heard of a TV watchdog group that went back into the the 1970’s I believe but can’t think of the name. PTC also covers video games.

(I do not like Dancing With The Stars as their outfits are extreme. I like Fred Astaire and real ballroom competition, the kind that were hosted by Juliet Prowse).

Some of the new TV writers are Christian. Babara Nicolosi’s “Act One” named the man who writes for The 70’s Show. He told how he couldn’t change the show -drugs, rocking roll and sex - but he could influence how the show was portrayed. Now that TV shows are on DVD, it allows for more selection.

Even the commercials for this show is offensive. It is against all sense of decency that they are allowed to air over the public airwaves, which only goes to show that America has lost her sense of decency.
