TV: It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia

This show is hilarious. Does anyone else here enjoy it? For those of you who don’t know, it’s a TV program on the FX network that revolves around four friends and their Philadelphia bar.

seriously one of the BEST shows EVER.
Me and my friends are gona have an Always sunny in Philli party at Ikea

This show constantly takes the Lords name In vain multiple times per show. Promotes fornication, drugs, filthy language, homosexuality and an ungodly life in general. In one show they pretend to be molested by a priest even. I watched this show before I became a Catholic last Easter. I don’t think any Catholic would watch this show if they are right with God. There must be another place to promote this other than a Catholic Forum.

i agree! Garbage in, garbage out.

Crude and vulgar comedy that is hurtful, demeaning and mean spirited, no matter how funny, should never be substituted for love and compassion.

Every once great civilization, the Greeks, the Romans, etc., all disappeared from existence because they lacked reverence for others and became absorbed with self-serving pleasure, no matter what the cost to others. We in the once great USA, are following in their footsteps, because we now focus so often on ourselves, at the exclusion of others.

Stop wasting your time watching this drivel and try watching or reading something inspirational, or better yet, follow Jesus and spend your time doing something good for someone else!

Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, Ora Pro Nobis Peccatoribus!

I know I’ve already posted on this but remembering back, there were shows with suggested homosexual activities ad used condoms. Even when I wasn’t a Catholic it was the dirtiest show I knew of. This makes “Sex and The City” look like a childs show. I would venture to say this is the filthiest show on cable. I am shocked someone would postthis on here and unfortunately that’s all I can say so I don’t get in trouble with mods. Wow, just wow…

Haha…wow. I didn’t expect such a reaction. Sure, this show has adult themes, but you have to take with a grain of salt. Just because one finds the show amusing doesn’t mean that one acts like the characters do. Please, it’s just a comedy, and a very clever one at that. Also, I do read and study quite a bit. This is something that I watch in my free time.

I don’t question if it’s a funny show bro, but all sins are pleasurable or else we wouldn’t do them. This is one of the dirtiest shoes on tv, so I myself have to abstain from it. Reading through your other posts I can see that you’re quite liberal on some matters and I get the feeling you’re on the fence, so I want to be kind. I think you’re studying and close to really coming home to the Church. Maybe I’m wrong, maybe I’m not. Either way you know inside you’re watching sinful matter, therefore you are part of this matter. I can provide plenty of scripture to support this but you already know this brother.
I’m 30 yrs old. I fight and teach mma for a living. Believe me, I don’t have a typical lifestyle, I’m exposed to sin all the time and it’s a tuff battle for me. Christ did not say it would be easy to get into heaven. Paul says he works out his own salvation “with trembling and fear”. This is a show that should be avoided brother and at the very least should not be promoted on a Catholic forum. You know this pal, and I mean all of this with love. Pm me for anything at all. I’ve been where you are.

May I remind you that the bible holds within its cover some of the worst sins ever committed. lol

Since this message lacks any context what so ever, I’m not sure who you’re reminding or what your point is. However, I will remind you that the there were great penaltys to those who commuted theese sins. Look at Sodom and Gomorah. Ephesians warns us not to partake in any of theese sins as the unbeliever would and speaks of he’ll if we do. I will be happy to provide scripture or tradition or what the Catechism says, however I doubt this will interest you. You have free will to do whatever you want, and I have free will to remind that Christ warns us what will happen if we cause our brother to stumble into sin. The Bible is very clear that you can’t have one foot in the world and one foot in the kingdom. It’s one or the other. There are many people who aren’t willing to give up the simple things of the world to find God. Many of theese people claim tey know Christ and have Christ, yet continue living in their sin. To theese people, Christ promised In Matthew 7:21-23: "not everyone who’s says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my father who is in heaven. /23/ "and then I wl declare to them, I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness."
Ephesians 4:17-24: "Now this I affirm and insist on in the Lord, you must no longer live az the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of their ignorance and hardness of heart. They have lost a sensitivity and have abandoned themselves to licentiousness, greedy to practise every kind of impurity. This is not how you learned Christ! You were taught to put awayyour former way of life, your old self, corrupt and deluded by it’s lust and to be renewed in the spirits of your minds."
So, since you’ve brought up the Bible and it’s contents, I ask you, have you “put away your old self and been renewed in the spirit of your mind?” If not, your sin is your own sin is your own sin, but be carefull of promoting to others for scripture warns of am even greater punishment for that. It is not wise to bring up scripture to support your cause. This is a losing battle every time and makes a mockery of scripture and frankly shows a lack of understanding it’s content. I employ you, with love, fight your addictions and truly come to the Lord. But if not, be wise enough, fear the Lord enough, to not broadcast your sins to others. May the peace of the Lord be with you.

I need a milksteak.

I consider myself to be a devout Catholic and I personally LOVE this show to no end. It always has a way of making me laugh  I do wish they would eliminate the G-Ds and the J-Cs, etc and use less blasphemous phrases and not focus so much on whatever character’s having sex with etc, but all that aside there are some incredibly hilarious comedy to be found. If anything the real strength of this show lies in the plots, especially those that are obviously influenced by pop culture, current events and so on (i.e. the recession). And yes the characters are very morally inept, but that’s the whole point of the show; to show that you can’t and shouldn’t get away with doing bad. The cast members themselves have explained this as well. And does it negatively influence my life? Not one bit

I am orthodox and I enjoy the show. It makes me laugh.

I regretfully say I’ve watched this show. It was recommended by a friend. I liked it at first it was funny but it also supported everything that I was against. So I stopped watching it. No regrets there.

Seeing as it’s somewhat forced here in the Far East, I regret that I had tried to watch it. It’s lacking in comedy!

I think what we need to learn here is that for some people, this show is bad. Some people watch too much of this kind of tv and it negatively influences their life. However, some of us can enjoy it and know that It’s always sunny , isn’t a show thats a good role model.

I myself am pretty orthodox and love Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead. But because I watch these shows, does that mean I’m going to go out and make meth or bash peoples skulls? I hardly think so. I do think some people couldn’t watch them though. You have to use your own judgement. It’s like looking at nudes in art. Most of us will think that donatello’s david or the Venus De Milo are beautiful works of art. However some might find them lustful or pornographic. If it causes them to sin, then they don’t have to look at it
