Ukrainians Elect Country's First Jewish Prime Minister

Interesting. I know that, historically, Ukraine has traditionally had a large Jewish population.

The Eastern Europe as a whole used to have quite large enclaves of Jewish population. They were the main source of the late 19th - early 20th century Jewish wave of immigration into the U.S.

The enclaves are no longer there, though, in the aftermath of Holocaust. Many left for Israel. Many are still there.

The Soviet Union also persecuted Jews, if I am not mistaken…

Hopefully he can bring peace to the war torn nation.
