Yes. The US has dug itself into a huge whole and for the last 30 years (with the exception of the Clinton years with a democrat president working with a republican controlled congress) it has been accelerating, with the burden of paying the debt pushed onto future generations.

We are placing our descendants into indentured servitude to the current generation. They will not enjoy anywhere near our level of benefits, yet they’ll be paying for them. Like the folks claiming 23 children overseas and getting the EIC as well as the child tax credits for them.

Getting our financial house in order is going to be painful for everyone, and the longer we put it off the worse it will be for those stuck with the collapsing system.
