Vietnamese Saints


A hundred or so Vientnamese people were canonised into the sainthood by Pope John Paul II. Their remembrance day is Nov 24th.

Does anybody know if they went through the formal canonisation process, including the examination of miracles?


I remember when I was younger and still in Vietnam, during a summer, my associate pastor…went over the lives of many of the Saints.

Their stories were well documented. I don’t know exactly how the process went, but they needed no miracles, I believe, because they were martyrs who died for their faith.

The King at that time wanted them to renounce the faith and demonstrate their change of faith by trampling on a crucifix.

These saints did not obey the King and thus were killed. There blood is enough to make them canonized saints.
