We want Church truth on marriage, young Catholics say

Denver, Colo., Oct 5, 2014 / 04:07 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- It always bothered Grace Raun when she heard her college classmates saying “nobody waits anymore” for marriage, because she knew it wasn’t true.

As a practicing Catholic who had been dating the same person for five years, Grace knew all about waiting. But she said following the rules of the Church regarding premarital sex never felt oppressive.

“I waited. I never felt like I didn’t ‘discover myself’ in college just because I was chaste,” she told CNA. “In fact, I felt like I knew myself better, because I wasn’t just looking for simple pleasures, but I was seeking a purpose to my life and the deeper meaning of who I was.”

Thank God some young Catholics still say this, but don’t statistics belie that as the norm?

YUP. As a young catholic i confirm this. MOST young catholics wan to wait. But those same ones laugh at chastity, dont know what guarding your eyes or modesty is, and think porn is ok…

Very far from the norm, but thankfully at least some people are still like this.

Good for her, seriously.

Every time someone pulls the “self-discovery” card, especially when it comes to sex/sexuality, I’m tempted to say “what you mean is 'I want to act perverted & depraved while not feeling judged about it.” In general, I want to ask towards “self-discovery” people “what did you ‘discover’ about yourself and please put in essay form, at least two pages.”

They also think a lot of things are ok, some stuff that make just shake my head and say “being open minded is a disease.”
