Were Mary Magdalen and Jesus lovers?

My brother who has left the Catholic faith for the Church of Christ says that according to his research Mary Magdalen and Jesus were lovers. He also tells me that Mary wasn’t really a prostitute, that was an added to the “story” between 400 and 600 A.D. I know this is all hogwash. Can you provide some resources I can forward to him to enlighten him on the truth? Thank you so much for your help.
