I note that Catholics are excommunicated if they have an abortion. What happens to someone who wants to become a Catholic but had an abortion when they were an unbeliever and has just come to God and the catholic church?
Having had an abortion will not keep a person from being received into the Catholic Church. If she has not been baptized, the baptism will absolve her of any sins she has committed. If she has already been validly baptized, she will be required to go to Confession just before being received into the Church.
