With all due respect, the old forum wasn’t exactly Shakespeare. I pretty much gave up on it - mainly because I increasingly found it limited and boring. What threads are you remembering as being so deep and thought-provoking? Surely not World News, which had deteriorated to an alt left vs alt right WWF. On a good day. I can’t remember any other really good discussions consistently appearing in other sections. I agree from time to time there were good threads but not as a rule. It depends on the participants and the topic.
I love the light hand on the moderating. The conversation flows and so do ideas. Overdue. If you don’t like what someone is saying - tell them why that is wrong or just ignore them. CAF is not the Catholic thought police. What does that say about the Church - if it needs that kind of tightly controlled environment among its own laity and inquirers?
I also agree with the comment that maybe it is time to move on and get used to the new forum. I think those of us that migrated are still looking backwards. Ideally we get new people, right? Who can add to the conversation. What must potentially interested parties think of all these threads about how horrible this new forum is, everybody is gone, plus the sparseness of good threads. I think we should just focus on getting interesting stuff going. One sad note is how many folks dropped off - but I think they will come back, over time. This new forum is not that overwhelming for heaven’s sake. Also as big events happen in the world or the Church - people will come on. Might take time. Few big events.
