I am adjusting to the new format. But the old CAF emojo’s ones were the best ever. These new ones are the same ones used by my email service and I already hate them, so, my mind is made up on that and its not going to change. Yes, so I suffer that loss especially, as I am a visual person who likes using them. However, what I mention below more than makes up for that.
Also I want to add here that I do not like the single choice of black for “dark mode”, but I have to use it because the white makes my eyes tired. I request that dark mode should be made brown instead of stark black, because black is a poor choice for those trying to escape starkness. Perhaps an easy-eye shade of medium dark green? Either moderator-brown or a similar hue of green would be so much easier on the eye. Save the black for the moderator comments because they are infrequent, and in a small box, so not so overwhelming.
But what seems to be big to me is moderator-change. Has there been a change?? Because honestly I feel this is a completely different “voice” in this post I read here (Sept. 8 by cawebmaster), and I am not seeing that old “voice” elsewhere here in this new forum, either. It seems to be gone.
I mean the old huge crew of moderators always felt strangely to me that they were all the SAME exact voice. Different names, same “voice”. Now this new one comes on here completely missing the “voice” of the old clones. This contrast is - stark.
I will try to explain with some specifics. The old one(s) would not start a post with “Thank you for your patience…”, nor would they follow up with a statement like, “please consider…”, and then “if you feel…” - - as if our feelings matter or something. Then the list of “regarding what was said [here and there] …” - as if our concerns merited some kind of NOTICE by the forum superiors! What a shocking concept. I mean, all those friendly phrases above imply a certain “equality” with the lowly forum-user that just wasn’t there before. I mean, what happened to that familiar curt “voice of command” that was the essence of CAF moderation??
Okay, I admit, I am not actually missing it. I was just used to it, sort of like a grumpy professor who you come to expect to see at 8am every morning. Or, like Seinfeld’s “Soup Nazi”. Yeah, like that. People got the soup in spite of the proprietor and how he made them feel, because they liked the soup.
This missing voice is as obvious to me as the sweeping format change. So, they must be connected, right? I mean, I can actually write this with no fear of being suspended for impertinence. I feel like it might even get answered by a moderator. It just seems so - charitable.
