What if I convert and I am married to a divorced woman?

I am considering converting to Catholicism. My wife and I were married in a Baptist church and she was previously married. Her husband abandoned her for someone else. Will the Church be able to convalidate our marriage? Does this mean that if we convert we will never be able to take communion? Can we convert at all? In case it is important, neither of us have ever had any children.

These links should explain the process you and your wife need to initiate in order to have your marriage recognized by the Church. If you have any further questions or concerns that are not answered by these links, please contact Catholic Answers directly.
