What if I feel unworthy to receive communion?

I am struggling with issues in my personal life and do not feel worthy to receive communion. When I should have turned to my faith, I crumbled and did not trust God. Should I still receive communion if I do not feel connected to Christ, through my own fault? I have still been going to mass and following God’s laws.

Every individual’s examination of conscience is extremely unique and personal. It involves standing spiritually naked before God and His judgment and mercy. There is no cookie cutter answer I can give you over the internet. The best thing to do is to find a confessor and/or spiritual director you believe to be wise and follow his advice.

God bless.
