What is the Church's view on religious tattoos?

I am wondering how the church views tattoo’s which are religious… and if they can be blessed and therefore be functional…
Items such as rosary’s and catholic based medals, images and other misc. items are used for protection and blessing for various reasons… Can a tattoo work in the same manner?

I recently put on my left shoulder a knights shoulder armor plating (modeled after the shoulder plate of a suit of Templar armor)… on this armor I embossed the reverse side of the St. Benedict’s medal (for protection from negative attack)… This armor was inpsired by Ephesians 6:10-18 NIV…

Can this tattoo work as it was intended to?
