What is the Gospel?

What is the Gospel? (Since that is what the apostles preached before the New Testament was written)

What is faith? (Since that is what we need for salvation)

What is salvation? (What or Whom do we have to be saved from?)

  1. The word Gospel means “good news.” The good news can be summed up as: For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life (John 3:16).

  2. Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). Faith is man’s response to God. Faith is our trust in God and His promises.

  3. To understand salvation, we first need to understand original sin. Original sin means that we are born into the world separated from God. We need God’s help to reconnect to Him. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ our relationship to God is healed and we are able to overcome sin which separates us from God and each other.
