#2

I’m still a sucker for The Music Man.

#3

My favorite is probably The Music Man. With 1776 a close second (can’t believe I forgot that one in my initial post)

Others I like, in no particular order:

  • West Side Story
  • Brigadoon
  • The Sound of Music
  • Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

#4

That Japanese one about the lawyer…
I don’t really know anything else.

#5

Fiddler on the Roof
You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown
R & H Cinderella (the original, not the re-make)
Rocky Horror Picture Show
Little Shop of Horrors
American Idiot

#6

I forgot about that one. Loved it as a child. Didn’t realize till many years later that the Prince resurfaced as Alan Quartermaine on “General Hospital” in its heyday.

#7
  1. The Blues Brothers
  2. Jesus Christ Superstar
  3. Singin’ in the Rain

plus the Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers musicals in general.

#8

Funny, I’ve never thought of The Blues Brothers as a musical. I love that film! Made in my hometown.

#9

Yeah, there are a bunch of films with music that I don’t think of as “musicals” per se, like the original John Waters version of “Hairspray” (which started as a film with music in it and got made into a “musical” later), and Prince’s “Purple Rain”. I didn’t count those.

#10

A bajillion times better than the remake film OR the stage musical!

#11

I like The King and I

#12

South Pacific
Sound of Music
Mary Poppins
Little Shop of Horrors
Grease
Moulin Rouge

One that I’m going to try and sneak into the category because it is my top 3 favorite movies: Oh Brother Where Art Thou?

#13

If we’re talking stage musicals, then my two favorite have to be Les Miserables and Hamilton.

#14

How could I forget this one? (While Mandy Patinkin is my favorite cover of this, there is something about hearing it from the composers)

Also to add, Pirates of Penzance AND Hamilton!!!

#15

The Sound Of Music
The King & I
Jesus Christ Superstar (the original not the one with John Legend)
Fiddler On The Roof
The Rocky Horror Show (my naughty pleasure)
Hair

#16

A toss between
The King and I
and
Brigadoon

#17

Les Mis
Jekyll and Hyde (the gothic version)
The Phantom of the Opera

Not ordered by favoritism…they are all pretty much #1

#18

The Sound of Music
My Fair Lady
Bye Bye Birdie!

#19

Rossini’s Stabat Mater. Pon Pon is a close second, but not really.

#20

Sweeney Todd.
