What kind of intimacy is acceptable prior to marriage?

Sexual intercourse is only accepted by the church within a sanctified marriage with the intention of expanding the family. I’m curious if there are other passionate actions outside of intercourse which are prohibited prior to marriage. I would assume any action which involves contact with the other’s genitalia would be forbidden, but are there others which most might consider innocent?
