What year/what cycle starts this Advent?

Me again! I am now equipped with a St. Jopseph's daily and Sunday missal but...

For the weekday missal, what year will we be in starting the first Sunday of Advent?

And for the Sunday missal, what cycle will we be in starting the first Sunday of Advent? (A, B, or C?)

Thank you for your help!

We are in Year B For Sundays.Moving on to Year C later in Nov. Weekdays it's Year 1 .

Hello! I checked the link but it's too confusing.

So, starting on the first Sunday of Advent we'll be in Cycle C / Year I ??

It's Cycle C/Year II.

There's no easy way to remember ABC.

There is a very easy way to remember years I or II
If the calendar year is an odd number, it's year I (odd)
If the calendar year is an even number, it's year II (even)
2010, even number, year II
Ignore the fact that the church year starts in November and just think of it as the year that we will be in come January.

Since you have the St Joseph Missals, I would also suggest the annual guides that go along with them. They're very straightforward (once you get a feel for the abbreviations!) as they list the actual calendar dates along with the page numbers in the St Joseph missals.

Stupid question... what liturgical year are we currenly in?

Thanks

We are in Cycle 'B'
Next week is the start of the new Cycle it will be 'C'

More precisely:
]The year is 2009
*]The Sunday cycle is **B
*
]The weekday cycle is **Year I*
*]This is the 33rd week of Ordinary Time
*]This Sunday will be the feast of Christ the King
*]...Followed by the 34th week of Ordinary Time
Come the 1st Sunday of Advent:
]The Sunday cycle will be **C*
]The next day, the weekday cycle will begin **Year II*
tee

Note that 2010 is an even number; therefore the daily readings are cycle II, an even number.

2010 is evenly divisible by 3; therefore is it is cycle C, the third letter. When 2011 is divided by 3 there is a remainder of 1; thus it is cycle A, the first letter. 2009 divided by 3 leaves a remainder of 2; therefore cycle B, the second letter.

Or join us on HSCCFV where I have sections on the Sunday and some other readings for each year, and notes on the Saints. [There is also a lot of other stuff there that I didn't do but is well worth reading. ;)]
