When did sharing prayers start?

What I mean is, when you have a group pray the Rosary together, one person says the first part of the Hail Mary and the group say the second part.

Did somebody start this off or did it just happen?

Also, if you have children and pray the Rosary together, do they like to lead on one of the decades?

I have no idea where the sharing prayer started. I am pretty old and that has been going on all my life. On your second question, when children are old enough to do so - they can certainly be asked to lead a decade of the Rosary in family prayer. Nurturing that kind of leadership in the family is important to their spiritual development I think. I would think the time to start is when children are preparing for First Communion. Maybe they could share a decade with an older sibling if it is too much for the little one.
