I read that St Thomas Aquinas said that God implanted souls in boys at 40 days after conception and souls in girls at 90 days. Can this be what the Church teaches? Does it mean that God really does see boys differently from or more important than girls? What would happen to a boy fetus dying at 50 days, and a girl fetus dying at 50 days?
My illustrious Dominican brother, St. Thomas Aquinas, was totally incorrect with regard to when God infuses the soul into the human body. He was limited in this because of the inadequate understanding of the human body that science held at the time. Today the Church teaches that as the principal of life, the soul is created with the body at conception for everyone regardless of sex.
