Where is this quote from "blossom/bloom where you are planted"

I have quoted this for years. I thought it came from the bible but I cannot find it, any help would be appreciated.

Try 1 Corinthians 7:7-24. It doesn’t say “bloom where you’re planted”, but that’s the gist of what it does say.

I don’t think the quote comes from the Bible. One Internet source attributed it to an Afghan proverb, another source to Nancy Reader Campion’s Aunt Grace, and another source to Mary Engelbreit.

I’ve also heard it labeled as an “old gardening quote”. That Bible passage I mentioned does fit it, though.

I always thought it came from a hallmark greeting card

It’s a song.

Look at the flowers, look at them growing,
They never worry, they never work.
Look at the way our Father clothes them,
Each with beauty all its own.
Each with beauty all its own.
(refrain)

Some plant the seeds that others will water,
But in all things, God gives the growth.
Come let Him garden the flowers within you,
Come and discover some you’ve never known.
Come and discover some you’ve never known.
(refrain)

Look at the love that lies deep within you,
Let yourself be! Let yourself be!
Look at the gifts you have been given.
Let them go free! Let them go free!
Let them go free! Let them go free!
(refrain)

Oh you must be the same vintage as me! The first thing I think of when I hear the phrase is that song!

St. Francis de Sales said this (1567-1622):

“Truly charity has no limit; for the love of God has been poured into our hearts
by His Spirit dwelling in each one of us, calling us to a life of devotion and inviting us to bloom in the garden where He has planted and directing us to radiate the beauty and spread the fragrance of His Providence.”

It’s in the Holy Scriptures… It reads this way. Psalm 92:13 ~ They are planted in Yahweh’s house. They will flourish in our God’s courts., (World English Bible).

It’s also a concept taken from Psalm 1:3, (♪ ♫ and a Song ~ Just Like a Tree planted by the waters, I shall not be moved ♫ ♪). Psalm 1:3 - ~ And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

See also Jeremiah 17:7-8 ~ Blessed is the man who trusts in Yahweh, and whose trust Yahweh is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, who spreads out its roots by the river, and shall not fear when heat comes, but its leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

And this was proven true with Isaac when God told him not to leave Gerar. You can read the whole story in Genesis 26:1-17 where Isaac never left Gerar even in the midst of a Famine, and increased 100-fold, and didn’t even leave Gerar when the King told him to depart from him, (because he was so wealthy that he made the King look bad), or you might be able to copy and paste this link.

Also, in the New Testament ~ (Look at 1 Corinthians 12:18 ~ But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body, just as he desired).

Three Things from Nehemiah about joining a local body of Christ.

  1. Your Signature, (Nehemiah 9:38 10:1; 28)
  2. Your Surrender, (Nehemiah 10:29 ~ Emphasis on the word “ALL”)
  3. Your Separation, (Nehemiah 10:30 31)
