White Calf, acient indian prophecy fuflilled.

I put this in the spirituality thread, i think it is better off here.

Hello all, I was watching “Unsolved Mysteries”, and they told this story about a old Indian Legend. It goes as follows, Two people were walking in a field when they saw this White Calf, then they said before their eyes, the calf turned into a beautiful lady. The beautiful lady told them that she will return in , i think 800 years, as a white calf and that at that time, there will be disaster, and this will continue for 5 years, but after that there would be a time of peace. Well, guess what, in 1996 i think, a white calf was born. So i was wondering, 1. Could it be possible that this beautiful lady could be Mary? 2. Has the church ever said anything about it? 3. What do you think?

I must say it is interesting, it is kinda convincing, the owners of the white calf said that every day, there are numerous rosaries hanging on their fence.

I know the story you speak of… i am not aware of any church speculation…

Any Catholics who are drawing Marian conclusions based on a cow are on dangerously thin ice in my opinion. They’ve crossed the line between devotion and superstition.

Whoa Bessie… i read a question and a speculation, and i saw a mention of no church stand… no where did i see any conclusions drawn… Apparitions have been claimed by lots of people, some have even spoken to burning bushes… this line of discussion was only of in the vain of “did you see” and “what do you think” !

the only conclusion drawn here was not drawn by RomanRyan or SG…

sheese… man, you gotta wear a helmut in these threads…

:rotfl: Don’t you mean Whoa BOSSIE? I didn’t mean to HORN in on the conversation. Maybe I should just MOOve along.

I’m sorry, I really wasn’t referring to any posters with my response. I was talking about the mention of the rosaries hanging on the fence. I think the folks going to pray the rosary to a cow are jumping the gun just a wee bit. It would be better for them to STEER clear of things like this.

(This is just sort of a pet peeve of mine – throngs of people going into mass hysterics because someone saw the face of Jesus on a tortilla or a potato shaped like the Blessed Mother, a Nativity scene in their pork lo-mein, etc. I think the Mariology of Indian legends and livestock births is sort of in the same category.)

grew up on a dairy farm 100+ cows and none named bossie… but, no offense taken, and you are sure welcome to sound your horn anytime you wish… keeps it interesting… you and i are in full agreement on the praying the rosary TO a cow… i was probably a little fast on the trigger too… thanks for your input…

Although I would not put much faith in the issue as white calves are born all of the time - I worked with cattle…

…this would not be the first time that God used dreams of Cattle to convey a message about the future.

Here is my opinion judging from the information in your post:

  1. I don’t believe it is Mary. 2. I have never heard or read anything the Church has said about it.

Hmm… A white calf that turned into a beautiful lady giving a prophecy to two people 800 years ago before the year 1996. So the supposed apparition would have occurred in 1196 (right?). Is this a verifiable story? People at that time already used drugs. Isn’t there a plant called “peyote” that certain Indian tribes used for its hallucinatory effects? Correct me if I am wrong. Could it be that if one has no control any longer over his senses, the evil one can take over and make you experience anything he wants you to see, hear, etc. etc.

In a setting like this, I associate the calf with the golden calf in the OT that the Israelites worshipped. Any idol worship in this sense is ultimately worshipping the devil. It is appropriate for the devil to be represented by a cow. More times he is depicted as an ugly goat.

Ok, now, a white calf is born in 1996, I suppose 800 years ago from that year. I say, “So what.” Did the white cow speak or first changed again into a beautiful lady to confirm that it is her - Mary?

What benefit is there to know and pass on a message that a certain disaster will happen at a certain time in the future that will continue for five years. Was there any other message given, for example, to turn back to God, to worship the true God, where to find Him, or something like that. If not, the whole story is a fraud.

St Paul in 2 Timothy 4, 3-5, writes: For there will come a time when they will not endure the sound doctrine; but having itching ears, will heap up to themselves teachers according to their own lusts, and they will turn away their hearing from the truth and turn aside rather to fables.

Don’t you think our time is the perfect example of what St. Paul wrote? People want to believe in something, but not in that what God already has revealed. The devil knows this - the times we live in are ripe to dig up an old Unsolved Mystery and lead people astray. Many have itching ears (30,000 christian denominations, everyone of them deviating from one truth or other.) People like to listen to teachers according to their own lusts: Divorce is OK, abortion is OK, contraception is OK, and so on.

So, here is what I think about the whole story. True - not true. Really doesn’t matter. Just keep in mind, Mary never has been represented by a cow. In all her apparitions she always comes as herself. What a shame that there always will be a group of Catholics who are so gullible and do a foolish thing as to hang rosaries near a white calf. Perfect image of idol worshipping. I am not saying that it is the people’s intent - but you can be sure that’s exactly what the devil has in mind. One thing will lead to another. First in a very subtle way, and before one realizes it you have entered into the domain of the prince of darkness.
