White House Appointee Visits Mosque of Oklahoma Beheading Suspect, Delivers Message From Barack Obama

** White House Appointee Visits Mosque of Oklahoma Beheading Suspect, Delivers Message From Barack Obama **

A Department Of Homeland Security official read a greeting letter from the White House Saturday at the mosque where it is believed Alton Nolen worshiped before beheading a former co-worker last month.

David Myers, the director of the Department of Homeland Security’s Center for Faith-based & Neighborhood Partnerships, visited the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City and, according to a DHR spokesman, read a letter imparting a generic presidential greeting for Eid al-Adha, a festival commemorating Ibrahim’s (Abraham) willingness to sacrifice his son to God.

The full greeting states "Michelle and I would like to extend our best wishes to Muslims in the United States and around the world who are celebrating Eid al-Adha, and to congratulate those performing the Hajj this year.

President Obama issues Muslim holiday, Mecca pilgrimage statement

October 08, 2014

President Barack Obama has issued a statement on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, which commemorates the Muslim belief that Abraham was willing to sacrifice to God his son Ishmael (rather than Isaac, as related in the Old Testament).

The OP article is misleading and misrepresents what the WH administration actually did.

Claim: President Obama sent a White House representative to thank an Oklahoma mosque with which beheading suspect Alton Nolen was affiliated.

On 4 October 2014, the local Muslim community celebrated Islamic holiday of Eid Ul-Adha in Oklahoma City, and David Myers, director of the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships, spoke at the Greater Islamic Society of Oklahoma City. Myers delivered a message of gratitude from President Obama to the community for its service following a devastating tornado in Moore in 2013:

Another take on the Mosque of Alton Nolen:

A member of the mosque where Oklahoma beheading suspect Alton Nolen worshiped says his fellow Muslims there preached violence, hatred and support for groups like Hamas.

“[What was] talked about was the choice offered to all non-Muslims at one point or another that you’re going to have to either convert [or] live under Islamic rule … and live in submission to an Islamic State or caliphate,” the member, who calls himself “Noor,” said Tuesday on “The Steve Malzberg Show” on Newsmax TV.

“And the last choice that you have if you reject those two … is jihad.”

Now we know the rest of the story.

One may not care for the source of this story but it’s the message and not the messenger that needs to be repudiated.

Alton Nolen, the Oklahoma City man who decapitated his coworker last week had attended a local mosque with ties to radical Islamist groups. Suharto Webb, an Imam with ties to former Al Qaeda mastermind Anwar al-Awlaki, had been the leader of the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City. Webb now serves as Imam of the sister organization of the mosque that was attended by Boston Marathon bombers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev.

As has been reported in the news, there is even some sort of connection between this Mosque in Oklahoma and the Mosque the Boston Marathon Bombers attended.

There is a picture of the man Nolen at a Mosque, I wonder which one that might be. I will say about the story above, I thought Nolen was from Moore Oklahoma and not Oklahoma City but he may have gone to service in Oklahoma City.

The Newsmax article is hearsay without a revealed witness.

This was a poor attempt to cover for the original post which was misleading and from a so called Christian sight no-less.

We as Christians need to report truth based on facts and not help perpetuate misinformation and fear mongering which will only create bigotry.
