Yeah, I have Splatoon 1 and I loved it. Splatoon 2 has more sub-weapons and more specials. Frankly, in my opinion, it's even better than Splatoon 1. The biggest adjustment to make is in the map. The map that was on the Wii U controller's screen is still available in Splatoon 2, you just have to press the X button to look at it. When you press X, you get a full view of the map and your teammates locations. You can press, on the D pad, a direction that corresponds to their location and can jump to where they are (instead of running/swimming back to their location).
Rollers are even more effective in Splatoon 2 because now you can fling ink farther. It used to be that the rollers had bad range, but now you can jump and, in mid air, press the shoot button to fling the ink farther than just the normal shotgun-like attack
I could never come close to A or S rankings, so you're a lot better than I am :p. I think I may have gotten to B or B-, but that's it.
Now I really want a Switch. :p I like to jump and flick with the roller, so I think I will definitely like the improvement.
I thought I wouldn't like the ranked mode, but I found myself really enjoying it, so that is what I play almost always. Probably way too much.
