I figured there would be enough oldies listeners here to help me out with this question.
A source says that “Somewhere My Love” (“Lara’s Theme”) was composed by Maurice Jarre for the film “Doctor Zhivago” in 1965.
The same source says that the music for “The Loveliest Night of the Year” was written by Juventino P. Rosas originally published as “Sobre las olas” (“Over the Waves”) in 1888.
The two melodies sound exactly the same. Did Maurice Jarre just borrow the melody from Juventino P. Rosas? I don’t see Rosas name anywhere in the copyright information for “Somewhere My Love”.
