Why does Jesus not want the Magdalen to touch Him?

Dear apologists:
Why does Jesus not allow Mary Magdalen to touch Him after His resurection and before His ascension, but allows St. Thomas to touch Him?

Dear Fiat,

That passage (Jn 20: 17) is better translated: “Do not cling to me,” in the New Jerusalmen Bible and “Do not hold me” in the Revised Standard (Ignatius Catholic Addition). He’s not telling her to stay away. He’s telling her to let go. Big difference!
