Many of the traditions that are in the church were handed down by tradition which are not in the bible and yet I have come to accept them. So please, understand that I'm not trying to be difficult. :)
In the bible, baptism is talked about quite a lot, but I don't remember anywhere it saying that it takes away original sin. I was just wondering how the CC came to this belief. Thanks for your time.
You can read Rm 5: 12- 21. It talks about how death entered the world through Adam sins. The type of death they are talking is spiritual death, death that seperates us from God. Even though we did not do anything, we inherited Adam sin and consequence from that sin.
Afterwards, read Rm 6:1-4. When we are baptized, we put away our old self (a life of spiritual death) and rise up and become part of Christ Body.
