Yes, canon 1152 talks about “separation with the bond remaining” in the context of adultery, but it isn’t giving carte blanche here! It recommends that the spouse remain, and it requires that, if the separation continues to exist after six months of separate living, that the Church be involved to determine whether forgiveness and resumption of ‘conjugal living’ may occur. Moreover, when “the cause for the separation ceases” (i.e., marital infidelity ends), “conjugal living must be restored unless ecclesiastical authority has established otherwise.”
So… no; It’s not a simple matter of “yeah, he cheated on you, so you have your ‘get out of jail free’ card now”…!
