Why isn't St. Joan Of Arc on the Roman Calendar?

Hello Catholic Answers,
Please tell me how such a Saint could be burned at the stake and NOT be on the Roman Calendar with a Feast Day???

Dear Joanie,

St. Joan of Arc is indeed on the Roman Calendar with a fest day. She is one of the patron saints of France. Since there are more saints than days of the year, the Church in each country determines which saints it will honor from the Calendar. While there are many Churches in the United States named after St. Joan, her feast day is not celebrated here. This is also true of St. Catherine Laboure who gave us the Miraculous Medal.
