Why not surrogacy?

Why is surrogacy against the catholic church?

Dear friend,

The dictionary defines the word ‘context’ as: “the circumstances that form the setting for an event, statement, or idea, and in terms of which it can be fully understood and assessed.” The Church recognizes the marital embrace as the context for conception. In the sexual intercourse of husband and wife the words of the wedding vows become flesh.

To remove conception from the context of this physical expression of the life commitment of marital love between husband and wife, is to wrench such conception from that from which it can only be fully understood and appreciated.

It thus becomes a loveless, financial interaction: money paid for goods received. I have dealt here with a woman who was conceived in such a way and she is currently dealing with being the product of such a loveless, financial transaction.

The Church insists that children are persons; not commodities.
