Can someone explain to me why the political left slams Christianity every chance it gets and likes Islam so much when Islam really stands for everything the Left abhors?
In what context?
Are you anti-Islam here?
How does the “left slams Christianity every chance it gets”?
The Left model from the Communist Manifesto or Karl Marx is that there is a class struggle against wealthy oppressors. All Third World peoples victimized by colonialism are oppressed and seek to be free of it through a violent struggle.
I think ignorance might have something to do with it. They simply aren’t aware of the fact that the Shariah mandates that any apostate should be killed. This is not a concept that radical groups made up-- it was said by Muhammad himself (it’s even compiled in Sahih al-Bukhari which is the most authentic collection of hadiths in the Sunni school of thought).
They think that if someone brings an accusation about Islam that sounds bad, that it must be because the accuser is an Islamophobe. If we present evidences that are on point and are unflattering and they still don’t see it, then they are blind. We ought to pray for people like that; words can only get you so far.
But the same could be said about the Old Testament.
I don’t think I understand what you’re saying. Are you saying that people dislike Christianity because of the Old Testament?

Many areas of the Scriptures mandate that we should stone people to death for certain sins,
Many are from God or the Prophets or the Apostles themselves.
Yes, but I’m not aware of any passage that says that we should stone someone for apostasy. People are free to come and go from the Christian faith. The Qur’an says that there is no compulsion in religion, but the mandate for apostasy carrying the death penalty certainly seems to indicate that there is a force that’s there to keep you in bondage. People go through the motions because they are afraid of being killed for apostasy. That’s not what “there is no compulsion in religion” means. Muhammad contradicted his own teachings.
Besides, Christ is our refuge. He took on himself that wrath that we all deserve, so there’s no need to stone people anymore. All sin is worthy of death and that’s what’s so offensive to non-christians.
Bingo. Muslims are viewed as “victims,” which gives them a pass on the things they do. It explains the left’s hostility toward Israel.
It’s actually in the manifestos of terrorist groups to use Western hospitality to conquer nations from within.
Here are some examples from Canada of them taking advantage of Western hospitality:
Anyone who has a problem with the Old Testament needs to talk to the Jews.
And the Left loves the sexualization of children, part of their agenda in the public schools. Didn’t Mohammed “marry” a young child?
The left doesn’t support things Islam stands for that are at odds with its own philosophy. It supports those seeking asylum regardless of race or religion and opposes discrimination.
Also Muslims will get cut some slack because they come from a different culture that westerners don’t fully understand, whereas Christians ‘should know better’.
But I have never seen a Muslim’s discriminatory position on women’s rights being supported. So I’m not sure what you are talking about specifically.
Actually the paradox you have pointed to has split the Left.
This has been a long time coming because, if i understand the analysis correctly, they are actually two versions of the Left.
1.) The “Liberal” Left - draws its ideas from Enlightenment values and the work of the John Stuart Mill. They tend to fall under the category of “Leftarian” (Libertarian + Left).
2.) The “Illiberal” Left, called the Regressive Left by the above, places the fundamental value of Equality at its center and derive their understanding from the 3rd Strand of Marxism -> Cultural Marxism.
This is the 3rd strand of Marxism that rejects Stalinism and the Trotskyite visions of Marxism. It rejects (at least rhetorically), State Interventions as a whole because of Stalinist nightmare of the Soviet Union.
The Cultural Marxist’s primary target isn’t the State (not initially anyway), but rather culture. The logic is kind of fuzzy to me, but the idea tends to be:
Breakdown Cultural Norms -> Change how Society thinks -> Utopia
At center of this movement lies the work of Herbert Marcuse, whose primary method of analysis is the concept ofprivilege. The problem is of course, what the hell is privilege exactly?
We’ve gotten to the point where for instance, Homosexual White Males can’t hold positions of authority in certain LGBTQ (i heard they’ve added an “I” now too…no clue what that is) organizations because their “Whiteness” and them being “Men” grants them more privilege than say I dunno… a Transexual Female Minority.
Here’s a pertinent example of Group 1 Liberal criticizing Group 2 Liberal:
The answer to this question is, obviously, that libtards and lefties are simply unaware of the many Christian teachings and dogmas that demand that we all hate Islam.
I am not so good at research so perhaps some of the other posters on this thread would be so kind as to provide links to the relevant CCC.
Well actually it is mostly just the right in the US that supports Israel. There is blame on both sides for sure, but Israel are definitely committing crimes and occupying more than they have a right to.
TeenCatholicGuy. You said (emphasis mine):
Many areas of the Scriptures mandate that WE should stone people to death for certain sins, Many are from God or the Prophets or the Apostles themselves.
Go back to the adult that told you this . . . and ask them . . . . WHERE it’s taught that “WE” should stone anybody?
In the Old Covenant that occurred (for reasons I won’t get into here).
Jesus Christ FULFILLED the law and the prophets.
Now in the New Covenant we have a law of grace or as St. James says, a “Royal Law of Liberty”.
This is not the same as “the law”.
Tell them If you want to see the template for the New Covenant, you can see it in the person of Jesus. (I think most any Christian would affirm this).
If you want to see the template for Islam, you can see it in the person of Muhammad. (I think most any Muslim would affirm this).
Hope this helps.
What does Jesus say?
