Like many people I have really been struggling to find a balance between my religious beliefs and alignment with political parties.
I have tried very dilligently to stay away from being a one issue voter because of the consequences that often arise.
As a Catholic I struggle because in my opinion so many leaders are not aligned with my two strongest religious callings - protecting the unborn and protecting the poor.
I have a strong desire to carry out these callings even in the political arena, but am struggling. As this is a prayer request rather than a request for advice, please pray for me as I attempt to decide what road to follow.
Our Father Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name;
Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Hail, Mary, full of grace! The Lord is with thee;
blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners
now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless,
and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible,
look kindly upon us, and increase Your mercy in us,
that in difficult moments we might not despair,
nor become despondent,
but with great confidence submit ourselves
to Your holy will, which is love and mercy itself. Amen.
