Worried about video game

Does anyone know anything about a video game cuphead. I thought it was just a cartoon thing but it seems to involve fighting the devil to win souls back. He doesn’t believe any of this and thinks it’s just a game. Is there a danger in playing this game?

I know the game quite well so you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask.

For anyone reading, there will be SPOILERS

Cuphead is the story of two brothers, Cuphead and Mugman. It’s set in a world like a 1930s cartoon where there are all sorts of crazy characters, including our two heroes who are anthropomorphic cups. In fact the whole game is done in the style of those 1930s cartoons (like Betty Boop and Popeye). If you’re familiar with that age of cartoons you know that can be cutesy but sometimes a bit creepy.

The intro (done like a storybook) explains that the two boys went to a casino and Cuphead goes on a hot streak. The devil shows up and says that if Cuphead wins the next roll he’ll give him the whole casino. Taken by greed he rolls and loses. The devil tells the boys they have 24 hours to round up the contracts of others in the land who gambled away their souls. These others are all cartoony archetypes like a pirate, a giant bird living in a cuckoo clock, a mermaid, etc.

When you play the game you act as Cuphead and knockout the opponents to get the contracts. After defeating all of them and the devil’s right hand man, King Dice (A man with a 6-sided die for a head), you meet up with the devil. He tells you to give him the contracts you won. You refuse and then fight the devil himself. After you beat him he literally starts crying.

In the epilogue Cuphead and Mugman burn the contracts freeing the characters you fought throughout the game, and then all those characters cheer the two heroes. The end!

I don’t think there is danger in playing the game. It’s all very cartoony and the only reason you get the contracts of the opponents is to get close enough to the devil to fight him. On a purely video game level it’s great in so many ways, and I do recommend it.
