Would Protestants vote for a Catholic to be President?

Putting John Kerry aside. Would my Protestant brethren vote for a pro-life Catholic candidate? Please be honest and explain.

I don’t think most Protestants would have any problem with it. Lots of evangelicals and fundamentalists would vote for Alan Keyes, for instance. Of course there would be a few extreme fundamentalists who would see a Catholic candidacy as a “Romanist plot,” but they’d be negligible in political terms.

Even among fundamentalists, I think someone like Kerry does far more to stir anti-Catholic fears than someone like Keyes would.

In Christ,

Edwin

I believe many Protestants, especially the mainline denominations would have no problem with a Catholic candidate.

The bigger question is would Catholics vote for a pro-life catholic republican over a non-pro-life democrat?

Good question. The sad answer to that was Pennsylvania going over to pro-death John Kerry.

I personally would vote for a Catholic president but only if his claim was true to Gods Word.

Thank you for answering and God Bless. How would you know if his/her claim is true to Gods word? I take it you are referring to the claim as he/she being a Christian?

I would vote for an Atheist if I thought that they would make the right decisions and could honestly decrease the amount of abortions in America.

I think most Protestants would have no problems voting for a Catholic candidate. Several Protestants that I know gave no issue to religion when voting. No issue with the moral issues, but more on education, social programs, the war, etc. In fact, I know some Catholics who voted the same way!
