YouTube liberated this woke heroine

So she was able to destroy her family. (But with our newfound social sexual liberation, we can all do the same.)

From Rod Dreher:

CNN runs Pride Month essay by married mother of two (a former CNN reporter) who watches Saturday Night Live, decides to leave her husband and break her family up to live as a lesbian. No, really, this is a thing that happened:

I had everything I thought made my life perfect. I was married to my best friend and we had two beautiful, healthy and hilarious children, with successful careers and a beautiful home.

My life would change forever after a simple Google search in November 2016. I had just seen Kate McKinnon perform the song “Hallelujah” on SNL and discovered that she’s a lesbian. That shocked me because she didn’t fit the awful stereotype often depicted in the media.

I quickly declared her my “new girl crush.” But it was more than that.

God have mercy on us and on the whole world.

“Everything in contemporary American culture — media, consumerism, emerging religion, law, all of it — is designed to smash the traditional family and its natural support, traditional religion. You watch: this ultimate expression of liberalism is going to lead to the destruction of the liberal order…”

From Dreher in the article but for real though my thoughts exactly.

What a disgusting woman, destroying her family to chase after her own selfish desires.

May she repent, and may God have mercy on her soul.

“What a disgusting woman”

And

“May God have mercy”

Are contradictory statements. What she did was morally reprehensible. She isn’t any less human.

I don’t think they are saying she is less human.

You can think someone is disgusting but still pray for mercy. I think that ruining her family’s lives over her lesbian sexual urges is pretty disgusting, yet I would still ask for mercy on her behalf.

To quote Rod Dreher:

“I don’t think you would have been able to deny who you were — a wife and a mother, bound in covenant to a family — without the changes in American society in recent years. Your husband did not abuse you. By your own admission, you were in a happy family, a successful family. But you wanted something different — no matter how much it cost your husband and your children.
I wonder what her husband and children really think. I know this: if they dissent in any way from the Narrative, they will not be permitted to say so.”

I think that maybe she is not that much different than anyone else. After the sexual revolution, we have all been taught that we must be true to ourselves above all. It’s about what I want, not covenants or obligations.

Which is probably why birth control (the pill, condoms) have became accepted by most Christian denominations.

The ideas made mainstream from the 60s and 70s have had catastrophic detrimental effects on all of society to this day.

Human beings can be disgusting if they behave in disgusting ways. How is that dehumanizing?

So, this lady just discovered she was gay at 36? Sounds like a mid-life crisis search for novelty. I’m glad the author pointed out that, had she left for a younger man, she would be rightly socially crucified, but it being with a lady makes is somehow heroic.

Yeah seems pretty strange. I’ve known several girls throughout college who were very out lesbians/pansexuals but would still exclusively date men. It wouldn’t surprise me if she were bored with her family and decided to go with the whole coming out story so she could leave while being fawned over.

She is fully human, a human who made an utterly reprehensible decision to destroy her family to pursue her sexual lusts. I say the same thing about men who leave their wives. They are human beings, disgusting human begins who are selfish beyond measure.

Well, when you’ve heard as many confessions as I have, you’re welcome to say things like that if you still feel it’s warranted.

Also, please cite all instances of Jesus calling someone a disgusting person in the Gospels.

I’m not Jesus, and while I aspire to that kind of love, I don’t have it yet. All I see in this woman is a woefully misguided, pitiable soul who, again, completely destroyed her family to pursue her sexual lusts.

I wish her the best, and I pray that she repents and turns to God for forgiveness, but her actions still warrant the title of “disgusting” in my book.

If it makes you feel any better, I also count myself as a disgusting person, for different reasons, but none-the-less. I’m working on my negative aspects, and I hope by the time I die God will allow me to be cleansed of the aspects that earn me that title.

There was a girl my high school who called herself a lesbian yet dated a guy she met in choir.

Some women just like to have their cake and eat it too. Though, I haven’t really heard of something like that going on with men.

While I get your point, he did not call anyone disgusting, he did have harsh things to say to and about people. He called people fools, wicked, full of snakes, etc.

It would probably be more charitable to not call someone disgusting, however a spade is still a spade and the action of ruining your family’s lives while showing no remorse and actually glorifying it to others is what makes it IMO -disgusting. It would be totally different if the person did this and then repented and didn’t post it to CNN.

The article only serves to encourage others to do the same.

It confuses judging an act with judging a person. Normally moral people can make “disgusting” choices, and people we label as “disgusting” can surprise us with charity and kindness. In our faith, we focus on the actions. Only God knows the people.

While we cannot legitimately judge a person’s ultimate destiny considering we don’t have enough knowledge, I think we cuddle people for not calling them out as the reprehensible human beings as they are. Sure, everybody slips up now and again, but actions speak louder than words and they get to the point that they can be very revealing of what’s inside.

The lady in the article human filth. I stand by that statement until see evidence to the contrary, as in remorse and a genuine attempt to make amends for her actions.
